When do I enrol?

You can enrol, confirm your enrolment and pay the deposit at college on Tuesday 5 February 2008 (9:30am to 3:30pm) or by appointment.

How much is the locker deposit?

$20 - which is refunded at the end of your time at college.

How much will I pay in levies?

$240 - full time

$60 - per subject (up to a maximum of $240)

Levies can be paid when you confirm your enrolment (EFTPOS available). All levies should be paid to the General Office or on line by Friday, 28 March 2008.

Who do I ask for help?

Your tutor group teacher will be able to answer most of your questions. In B Block, we have other people you can go to for help such as course counsellors, a social worker and tutors in literacy and numeracy.

How do I get my books and stationery?

Books and stationery will be available for collection or ordering on all enrolment days and from the College Bookshop, once classes resume. Email the bookshop stories@stories.net.au for further information.

What happens on the first day?

Year 11 students start on Thursday, 14 February 2008 and meet in the Student Common Room at 9:00am. You will be shown how your timetable works, how you get a locker, how to get your own email and Internet address, how the library operates and get your bus pass. Year 12 students start on Friday, 15 February 2008.

Do I have to attend all classes?

Yes. Subject teachers check attendance at every lesson. Absences are listed as 'unexplained' (and this could affect your Youth Allowance) unless you hand in to the General Office a doctor's certificate, appointment card or a note from your parents. Attendance reports are mailed to parents regularly and tutor group teachers telephone parents about unexplained absences. Parents should telephone the College if they have concerns.

How do I find out about my progress?

You get a full subject report twice a year. After reports are issued, there is a Parent/Teacher night. Your parents can also telephone the College about your progress.

Where will I live if I am a country student?

Accommodation is available through Housing Tasmania and the college. If you are interested, you need to contact Alison Lennox at the college (tel 62496951).

Springvale Hostel in New Town (telephone 6228 1282) takes boarders in Years 11 and 12.
